Mexican meets the Caribbean at Slidell's newest fun spot for delicious food and drinks, GilliGil's Island. Seafood is the star on their menu, beginning with their famous shrimp trays for two or four served with garlic potatoes, onion and bell peppers. Starters include smoke tuna dip, shrimp cocktail and the "Campechana"--jumbo shrimp, octopus, raw oysters, fish and crab in a spicy cocktail sauce, and entrees include ceviche tostadas, including fish, shrimp, and ahi tuna with pineapple, orange, cilantro, red onion and jalapeno.
The mainland is on the menu, too, with small plates of shredded pork, chipotle chicken and pickled pork tostadas, and big eats--skirt steak with sauteed garlic potatoes, shrimp & potato stuffed tacos, Baja shrimp tacos, the "Cheeseburger in Paradise", and a fresh salad featuring black beans, roasted corn and tortilla strips.
