Originating in Gulfport, Mississippi, Half Shell Oyster House's award winning restaurants are known for local Gulf oysters and seafood with a New Orleans flair.
The menu, too features steaks, chicken, pasta, Gulf fish and seafood in season, including the Southern delicacy for which it's named. Freshly shucked on the half shell, charbroiled over an open flame, BBQ, Oysters Rockefeller and Oysters Bienville are all on the menu. Not in the mood for oysters? There's something for everyone. Start with the BBQ shrimp or seafood-stuffed portabella mushrooms, a steaming cup of gumbo or a salad of avocado, goat cheese and toasted almonds.
For a casual lunch or dinner, there are burgers, poboys and sandwiches, classic Shrimp and Grits and hearty Seafood Pot Pie as well as a select menu of sushi and sashimi (don't forget the sake!). For a more upscale evening with the family or your sweetie, there's the Herb Encrusted Mahi, Seafood Au Gratin Snapper, surf & turf--a 6- or 8-oz. filet topped with Gulf shrimp in a smoky Cajun sauce--and other delectable entrees like the Almond Encrusted Chicken, Seafood Pasta, Chicken Alfredo and more. Gluten free and vegetarian options, too. The New Orleans influence extends to the bar and dining room.
The full bar features signature and classic drinks, wines, and beer on draft or by the bottle, including local craft brews. The ambiance is pure French Quarter, with exposed brick walls, wrought iron railings, antique wooden doors, murals, antique fixtures and lighting and other touches of New Orleans décor throughout.
