Explore the area's rich maritime history up-close with detailed exhibits and interpretive displays, boat models, boat-building classes, hands-on educational programs and presentations by Lighthouse Keeper Frederick Schrieber, one of the last Tchefuncte River Lighthouse keepers, on life at the lighthouse in the early 1900's. And, don't miss the very popular Wooden Boat Festival, usually held in October. Be sure to check the museum's website for current hours of operation and event status.
Located on the banks of the Tchefuncte River, the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum has 3,600 sq. ft. of combined banquet rooms, a wrap-around covered exterior porch, theater-style seating for 40 people. The entire venue can accommodate up to 350 people--a beautiful and historic location for weddings, too.
