This open-air, family friendly restaurant overlooks the Tchefuncte River from a deck to watch the river and a dock for boaters to pull right up. There’s a playground for kids, a bar for the adults and a menu by chef Michael Gottlieb, formerly of Brennan's in New Orleans and his family's century-old bakery in Savannah, GA. The Gulf-inspired menu is rooted in classic Louisiana cooking, highlighting the region’s oysters, shellfish and seasonal catches, like shrimp po-boys with brown butter, deviled crab with jambalaya and broiled or fried seafood platters. It's not just seafood, though: on the menu are burgers, smoked beef short ribs, pulled pork and crispy chicken sandwiches, salads, hot wings and more. Handcrafted cocktails, house baked breads and homemade desserts round out a memorable meal. The Anchor is open Thursday thru Sunday 10:30am to sunset, and Happy Hour is 3-5pm daily, with specials on select draft beers, house wines, cocktails and appetizers. Seating at the patio, dining room and bar is available on a first-come basis; The Anchor does not take reservations. Come-as-you-are attire is welcome and boats of all sizes are invited to dock at the on-premise slips.
