RESTAURANTS, ABITA SPRINGS
The original home of Abita Beer before the once-tiny brewery outgrew the space and moved down the road, Abita Brew Pub still showcases Abita’s popular brews on draft as well as serves up its version of Southern pub fare. Down-home’s the name of the game at little Abita Springs Café, just a couple of blocks away. Plate lunches, steaks and burgers, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pecan pie! Mama D’s serves another kind of pie – pizza pie! – and it’s cheesy goodness is hard to resist. So are the pastries at Maple Street Bakery & Café and the Louisiana specialties, many served buffet-style at lunch, at Camellia Café a few minutes outside the older section of town and not far from Abita Bar-B- Q, where the brisket’s tender and you have your choice of two types of sausage – smoked or Louisiana boudin. Hope you're hungry.
