Folsom, LA

To many, the rolling terrain of Folsom is horse country and the area hosts the GALA - Gallop Around Louisiana horse shows each year, as well as polo matches. But many come to see different sorts of animals at the amazing Global Wildlife Center.

The largest free-roaming wildlife preserve in the U.S., Global Wildlife is home to 4,000 exotic and endangered animals from across the globe. Visitors experience the creatures up close from wagons traveling through the reserve's 900 acres. Folsom also is known for its plant nurseries and the annual NorthShore Garden show in March. Folsom hosts a Cajun Mardi Gras-themed parade each year and Folsom's Village Market, held each second and fourth Saturday. The farmers market is joined by a community yard sale on fifth Saturdays.
