The Tchefuncte River dominates the landscape and is at the soul of Madisonville, so it is the focus of most of the dining in the little town as well. Several well-loved restaurants line the town’s riverfront offering diners a scenic water view along with regional specialties like spicy boiled seafood, broiled and fried fish, poboys and more. Old favorites like Water Street Bistro and Morton’s, with its iconic “Hot Boiled Seafood” sign and powerhouse cocktails, have their loyal fans. Not all of the town’s restaurants line the Tchefuncte. Madisonville’s favorite restaurateur, Keith Young, operates his eponymous steakhouse as well as the casual Crabby Shack nearby.
