Welcome to wine country. Surprised? Louisiana isn’t exactly known as a wine-producing state but Pontchartrain Vineyards has been turning out fine table wines since 1991. Go for a tasting or for one of the vineyards’ spring or fall Jazz’n the Vines concerts under the stars. Pontchartrain has been joined by another wine-maker, LA Serendipity Vineyards, now growing grapes practically next door and open for tastings most weekends. It’s not all about wine in Bush. In summer it’s also about blueberries, as one of the area’s most popular pick-your- own blueberry farms opens its rows to the public. If sippin’ or pickin’ isn’t for you, how about horseback riding? Mount up and head to Splendor Farms, which offers trail riding on its 75 acres, as well as a pool, petting zoo and picnic areas in conjunction with its B&B.
