Santa Claus can be sighted at a select few places across Northshore during the holiday season, including at photo ops with the kiddos. November 27, for Small Business Saturday, HJ Smith & Sons Hardware Store & Museum in downtown Covington will have Santa on the swing for free photos, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. -- just bring your camera! Also on Saturday, November 27, 1-4 p.m., get a professional photo for $25 while you wait with Santa at The Candy Bank. On Friday, December 3, there's Christmas at TerraBella in Covington. Grab a photo of your furry friend with the merry elf with "Santa Paws" photos at Majestic Dog Boutique on December 5 and 12, from 12-5 p.m.

Selfies with Santa and other fun events are happening in Mandeville for Winterland at the Shops December 10-12 (where you can also take a spin on an ice skating rink). At the ticketed Merry Mande Holiday Tea December 12, Santa will be posing for professional photos at the Mandeville Trailhead when he's not shopping at the Holiday Market or shaking it with the Mande Milkshakers. Santa spends a weekend in Heritage Park with Slidell's Bayou Christmas, Dec.17-19, and pays a visit to the Jean Baptiste Lang House Dec. 4, 2-5 p.m., for pictures by the beloved old fireplace--bring your own camera and your family, including the furry ones (pets welcome, too!). Entertain the kiddos with Santa and holiday treats at Pelican Park's Breakfast with Santa, and enjoy holiday goodies while supporting a good cause with the Youth Service Bureau's Your Santa Breakfast, Dec. 4. Register in advance for dining events!

The Winter on the Water Santa & Boat Parades December 4 on the Mandeville lakefront are always a jolly good time, and there will be pictures with Santa at the Gazebo. Deck the Rails kid-friendly holiday event at the Covington Trailhead, 4-6 p.m. on December 4, is not to be missed, where children will enjoy receiving individually wrapped holiday treats. Santa is bringing Mrs. Claus with him to "Santa's Workshop" for a photo op at the Madisonville Park & Playground on December 5, when he'll be celebrating for Merry Madisonville. Also on December 5, Santa will work his magic with the Mrs. and lead the Olde Towne Slidell Community Christmas Parade from Slidell City Hall to Griffith Park, where he will participate in the annual lighting of the trees and Christmas Under the Stars. 

If a "fun run" is more your speed, don't miss the Q50 Santa on Trails 5K Run/Walk in Fontainebleau State Park on Dec. 11, where you can witness a flurry of red caps and white beards bobbing by as runners cruise through the park in full Santa suits. The annual Pink Tutu Run/Walk, originally planned for September, moves to December, too, on the 5th.
